Know this: Breckenridge is truly one of the most magical hallmark towns and has so much to offer for couples that want to plan their intimate wedding or elopement in the area.
Note: Baleigh and Levi’s wedding could be considered an intimate wedding or an elopement, so I’ll be using those words interchangeably.
Baleigh and Levi flew in from Georgia two nights prior to their wedding day, drove through a snowstorm to get to their rental in the wee hours of the morning and wanted to fit in a day of skiing the next day. Needless to say they were feeling the effects of little sleep and high elevation. They had a slow and relaxing start to their elopement day. Their families gathered and helped them get ready. The ladies talked, laughed and drank mimosas in the primary bedroom upstairs while the guys watched golf, racing, fishing or hunting (I can’t remember) downstairs in the man cave.
I’d recommend this short-term rental to anybody having an intimate wedding or elopement with guests near the Breckenridge, Colorado area. Two staircases flank the living room, leading up to two separate living quarters on either side. There are multiple rooms in the basement and on the main level, a huge garage, butler’s pantry and a great spot for the guys to hang out downstairs with a pool table and wet bar. This short-term rental is located in Blue River, which is central to a handful of great elopement spots in Colorado.
As soon as I arrived, I started documenting details and Baleigh getting ready with her ladies. My jaw dropped to the ground when I saw her dress. I didn’t expect a strapless dress for her winter wedding, but boy was it stunning! Small bows lined the button closure down the middle of her back and all the way down the train. She also brought white satin gloves, a fuzzy shaw and ear muffs to accessorize and keep warm. I would recommend this route for any winter wedding – you can always take them off, but it’s better to be over prepared than underprepared.
Levi put on his velvet suit, and then I led him to the snow covered backyard to wait for Baleigh. They requested everyone stay inside and watch the first look from the windows so they could have some privacy. We took a few photos around the property because it truly felt like the scene of a movie with the snow and the frosty trees.
After this, we packed up and headed up the hill to the Quandary trailhead. The sun peeked out for just a minute before the wind picked up and blew all the snow off the trees. We explored the area a bit, took some portraits and ran to the car to warm up.
We met up with their families at the ceremony site – a snow-covered frozen alpine lake. Though you couldn’t tell there was a lake underneath all the snow, it was a gorgeous spot for their ceremony. We were high enough in elevation that it started snowing right as we arrived and stopped right when the ceremony was over. Levi waited while Baleigh and her son Beckham walked down the aisle. Levi’s friend officiated their ceremony with heartfelt and thoughtful words. They exchanged vows, rings and a kiss while large snowflakes fell around them.
We wrapped up our time together with portraits and stunning landscapes. I know that’s one of the biggest must-haves for couples traveling to Colorado to get married, so I really like to deliver on this. We visited a few different sites and trudged through deep snow, but I think it was so worth it.
