Austin & Ben are two of my favorite people, so I was beyond honored when they asked me to document their big day. After rescheduling twice due to Covid, the third date was truly a charm! Before I get to the wedding day, I need to give you a little back story to how they secured their initial wedding date. Knowing me and my husband probably owned a tent (because we love the outdoors), Austin asked if he could borrow said tent to camp out in front of the Lenexa courthouse. He WANTED 10/10/20, and we all know how coveted that date was. He started camping two days prior to October, when the date would be available. One night, the sprinklers turned on, and in a panic he started to drag the tent away from the sprinklers only to discover it ripped because of the stake! Not that it would have ruined my day because I think it's hilarious, but he waited until after I returned from my wedding to tell me. They were committed to this date. And they got it!
Okay - on to the wedding day! With all of the covid restrictions, Austin & Ben decided to move their wedding across the river and said "I do" at the Farmhouse KC Event Venue in Independence, Missouri. They started the day getting ready at a nearby hotel and then we found a lovely waterfall to take a few photos in front of. I forget how lush the midwest is in the spring! THE GREENS. SO GREEN. No detail was spared at the venue. Seriously, the florals. The details were so on par with these grooms. Having no wedding party made their day super intimate. They were able to spend most of the time pre-ceremony to themselves, which was great because after the ceremony every guest wanted to say hi. Okay, you get the picture. After their vows, they rounded up the rowdy crowd for an outside dance party – until the police were called for a noise complaint! We moved the party indoors and ended the night watching Austin and Ben dance on the head table and I wish I would have captured that!
