I was shocked when Dani reached out to me for her elopement plans with Amber. We met on Twitter, a place where I complained about how much I hated Instagram almost daily. But Dani didn't care at all - she saw my work and knew she wanted me to photograph their fall elopement in Colorado. Dani and Amber spent a lot of time trying to find the perfect spot. They loved the idea of water being present. Thus, they eventually decided on Piney Lake. We made plans. They called ahead to make sure the road would still be open, as their wedding date was after closing weekend for the lodge. On a snowy, foggy October morning, I met the two in Vail. We drove down the road to Piney Lake only to find it CLOSED. FOR CONSTRUCTION. What a dang disappointment, but these two did not let it ruin their day one bit. They pride themselves on being able to pivot at a moment's notice - and that's what we had to do. I threw out a few nearby suggestions and they ended up loving this spot. We hiked in a ways, found a clearing, and got right to it with their short, emotional, meaningful ceremony. These two are absolutely perfect for each other in every single way - and you can totally see it in their photos. We explored the area a bit, trying to get the most out of the lovely snow dusted mountain landscape. Amber and Dani love to adventure in life, so they really wanted to incorporate their daypacks into photos, which I loved! They had "just married" signs made, which only added to this magical expereince! Truly some of my favorite humans I've ever had the pleasure of capturing. <3
