I’ve been with Baylie and Keith for some of their biggest chapters in life, and that makes me feel so thankful they’ve chosen me to be their photographer again and again. Though this blog is mostly about their in-home pregnancy announcement session, I feel like you all need to walk down memory lane with me. I met them at their engagement session in February of 2022. Baylie picked a new location I had not yet photographed a couple at, and I was so excited to get the creativity flowing. Though it was very cold, we had a great time getting to know each other!
Fast forward 8 months, and their wedding day had quickly approached. They hosted a tented wedding on a private property in Elizabeth, Colorado. Baylie designed a beautiful boho altar piece that I must feature here. Minus a very short hail storm, the day went off without a hitch and everyone had a really good time celebrating Baylie and Keith.
Shortly after their wedding, Baylie and Keith bought their first home in Colorado. They mentioned getting photos done at various stages of their home building process, but the timing never quite worked out. Finalllllly, the time came! Baylie reached out to me for an in-home photography session. She wanted photos of her oldest pup Marley – just in case something happened sooner than they anticipated – because Marley was 10 years old. We got to planning the session – looking for the best time of day for lighting and deciding on outfits. About a month later, Baylie reached out again. They were expecting and wanted to rope that into their in-home session as well.
Baylie always has a vision, and we’ve worked together so many times, we’ve come to really understand how to bring the vision to life. She loves the neutral tones with a bit of a bold statement. Her house reflects that too. We got some beautiful family photos with her, Keith and the dogs. Then we moved into other parts of their home to photograph their baby announcement for her friends and family. I particularly love the harsh-light images in the kitchen. Working with harsh light can be really difficult, but it can also produce amazing results!
It felt like just a few weeks because of busy season, but months later, we photographed their maternity session indoors too. Colorado winters can be harsh, and if you’re not up for cold wind and snow, maternity inside is a great alternative. We did feel lucky to be in a photography studio that day because it had snowed the day prior and was still cold and cloudy.
I truly can’t wait to see what time brings for this couple. As of the time I’m writing this, they’re preparing to have their baby, which might mean another addition to this blog post. :’)
As a wedding and elopement photographer, my main focus is couples. If I have photographed your marriage, I’d love to photograph your family’s life stages. As of this time, I am not taking any new family sessions from couples I’ve not previously photographed.
